The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said that the Senate refused to confirm his appointment due to reasons known to all.

Magu urged everybody to join the fight against corruption, adding that nobody has the monopoly of knowledge in fighting corruption.

On why the Senate has refused to confirm his nomination, Magu told Daily Trust, ”It is your duty to find that out, not for me tell you. I think you should know better, but the reasons are very obvious.”

The anti-graft boss also said he visited Vice-Chancellors of various Universities, urging them to add a course unit on anti-corruption.

”We will also appeal to them to create a course unit to emphasize anti-corruption, whether you are in sciences or the arts so that every youngster will grow with that in mind. It would help in wiping out corruption in its own way,” he stated.

Asked what should be done to speed up the process of prosecution of corruption cases, Magu said the EFCC’s responsibility was to investigate and present evidence and witnesses in court.

”Mine stops at investigating and taking the matter to court, and providing the essential evidence and witnesses.,” he added.
