Three kidnappers trying to bulldoze into the premises of Mother Cat construction company in Mando area of the metropolis were killed on Wednesday, Kaduna State Police Command said.

Onah Sunny, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in the Command, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kaduna.

He said the incident happened around 05:40 on Wednesday when the suspected kidnappers engaged in a gun battle with policemen attached to the company.

In his words, “The gallant policemen engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and repelled the attackers and in the process gunned down three of them.

“During the exchange of fire, two of our men, Insp. Bijimi Maiyaki and Kabiru Shuaibu attached to Operation Yaki sustained injuries and were taken to the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna for treatment.

“However, one of of the policemen died while receiving treatment at the hospital,” Sunny said.

He then further disclosed items recovered from the suspected kidnappers included four AK 47 Rifles; Eight Magazines with 130 live ammunition, pieces of suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a Golf Wagon vehicle with registration number W 812 FST.

Sunny also stated that the police are still on the trail for the remaining two suspects who escaped during the battle with bullet wounds.

“I want to appeal to members of the public to assist the police with prompt and relevant information on any suspicious movement in their respective neighborhood so as to ensure effective proactive crime prevention.

“The Command highly appreciates the support of the public and the media in our collective stride to bring down the rate of crime and criminality in Kaduna State to the barest minimum,” Sunny said.
