Popular TikTok influencer, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, has been remanded at a correctional facility by the Kano State Sharia court sitting in Filin Hoki, Kano.

Murja was arrested by the police following complaints filed by the Council of Ulama.

The court, presided over by Abdullahi Halliru, heard two counts of charges against Murja including threatening to attack some people and releasing inciting videos that goes against the norms and teachings of Islam.

When Murja appeared before the court, she pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

The judge adjourned the case to February 16th, 2023, for continuation of the hearing and ordered the remand of the convict in a correctional facility.

Kunya’s counsel, Barrister Yasir Musa, requested that she be sent to Hisbah custody or the police instead of a correctional center, but this request was rejected by the council to the defendants, Barrister Lamido ABBA Soron Dinki.
