President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of new leaders for various agencies and programmes under the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development.
The appointments were revealed in a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Tuesday.
Badamasi Lawal has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
Lawal, a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Katsina, succeeds Halima Shehu, who was suspended by the president over allegations of financial misconduct.
Following Shehu’s suspension, Akindele Egbuwalo, the national N-Power programme manager, served as the acting CEO while investigations were ongoing.
In addition to Lawal’s appointment, Funmilola Olotu has been named the programme manager of the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office.
Aishat Alubankudi will oversee the grant for vulnerable groups programme, focusing on providing support to Nigeria’s most disadvantaged communities.
Aderemi Adebowale, an aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been appointed as the programme manager of the home-grown school feeding programme, a key initiative aimed at improving child nutrition and education.
Abdullahi Alhassan Imam will take on the role of managing the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), which is pivotal in providing financial assistance to low-income families.
Ayuba Gufwan has been appointed as the executive secretary of the National Commission for People with Disabilities, where he will advocate for and implement policies to improve the lives of disabled persons.
Meanwhile, Lami Binta Adamu Bello has been named the new Director-General (DG) of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), an agency crucial in combating human trafficking and protecting victims.
