Abuja, NIGERIA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the recent insurgent attack in Borno State, describing the offensive as a “sign of desperation” and vowing that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers will not be in vain.
Okay News reports that the President’s statement, issued on Friday, April 10, 2026, followed the death of Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah and several other personnel during an encounter in Benisheikh. The President emphasized that despite this setback, the Nigerian Armed Forces have been conducting “sustained, intense land and air offensives” that have successfully neutralized numerous terrorist commanders and fighters.
“The government will never forget their sacrifices,” the President stated. “Because of the courage and dedication of our troops on the frontline, our resolve to defeat terrorism and all forms of violence across Nigeria is stronger than ever.”
Addressing the Military High Command and troops in various theaters of operation, President Tinubu urged them not to lose heart or become weary. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the military by providing necessary equipment and ensuring the welfare of all service members.
The President also called on the Nigerian public and the media to stand firmly behind the military, cautioned against celebrating or condoning attacks on security forces, and labeled the fallen soldiers as “unforgettable and irreplaceable” heroes. He further extended his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, pledging continued collaboration to achieve “total victory and lasting peace.”
