The President made the remarks during the official commissioning of Phase 1 of the Kuje-Gwagwalada Dual Carriageway in Abuja. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu described the newly completed road corridor as a strategic asset designed to unlock agricultural potential, eliminate security blind spots, and establish an efficient transport link connecting three separate Area Councils to southern Nigeria.

According to the presidency, the intervention resolves decades of logistics delays and safety hazards that previously affected farmers, traders, and students plying the route between Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Kwali. Tinubu commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for decentralized administrative focus, noting that infrastructure development must reach the grassroots rather than terminating within elite districts like Maitama and Asokoro.
Earlier in the event, FCT Minister Wike explained that the territory’s administration now relies on a community engagement model to select and execute development projects, ensuring that satellite towns are actively prioritized. The Coordinator of the Satellite Town Development Department, Hon. Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, added that the operational opening of the highway will immediately stimulate commercial and social activities within the surrounding suburban ecosystems.
