Tinubu Congratulates Modi on Becoming India’s Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister

ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest-serving elected prime minister in India’s history, describing the milestone as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in him by the Indian people.

Okay News reports that President Tinubu, in a congratulatory message issued on Tuesday, praised Modi’s leadership, public service record and contributions to India’s development over three consecutive electoral mandates. He said the achievement underscored the Indian leader’s enduring popularity and influence both at home and on the global stage.

The Nigerian president described Prime Minister Modi as a personal friend and trusted ally, noting that he had come to admire his wisdom, courage and commitment to advancing the prosperity of India. Tinubu also highlighted Modi’s role in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and India over the years.

President Tinubu recalled that Modi is a recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), and commended his contributions to deepening cooperation between the two countries. He said the relationship between Nigeria and India continues to grow through mutual respect, partnership and shared development goals.

On behalf of the Nigerian government and people, Tinubu wished the Indian leader continued good health, wisdom and success as he guides India through the next phase of its development and global engagement.
