ABUJA, Nigeria: – Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu congratulated Team Nigeria on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, for securing 24 medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Okay News reports that Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, released the statement detailing the country’s final medal tally of 10 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulates Team Nigeria on their remarkable performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland,” Onanuga said.

“My administration remains steadfast in its resolve to invest in sports development, strengthen our sporting institutions, improve training facilities, and create greater opportunities for our talented athletes to excel on the continental and global stage,” Tinubu said in the statement.

The president directed additional commendations to the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the National Sports Commission for their organizational support of the competitors.

The Nigerian delegation participated in multiple disciplines throughout the international competition, yielding medals in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, and para-sports.
