President Bola Tinubu has revealed that his administration removed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to accelerate development and enhance resident participation in governance, okay.ng reports.

Speaking to a delegation of FCT residents led by Minister Nyesom Wike during a Sallah homage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu explained that the TSA’s bureaucratic processes were hindering infrastructure growth in the capital. He stated that removing the FCT from these restrictions has led to rapid improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and security.

“I remember the day that the FCT minister came to meet me, and he said, please take us out of the problem of the TSA so that I can do more work and achieve more. I said show me what you are about to do, and he presented his thinking and belief. And everything started changing rapidly,” Tinubu said. He cited examples such as the opening of rural areas, the completion of abandoned projects, and the rehabilitation of healthcare and school facilities.

Tinubu praised Minister Wike for demonstrating the necessity of this liberation and for restructuring the FCT public service. “We can now celebrate the innovative ideas brought to the FCT,” he stated.

He urged Nigerians to prioritize results over ethnic and religious considerations in their leadership choices. “We are not looking for magic. We are looking for results. We are looking for comfort. We are praying for good health. We are looking for someone who cares,” he said.

Tinubu emphasized the unifying role of Minister Wike, stating, “Nyesom Wike is proving the diversity of Nigeria. He strengthened that diversity to develop prosperity, showing us that we are all members of one family, living together in the same house, in different rooms, and under one roof.”

Minister Wike expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address the president and pledged his loyalty and commitment to developing the FCT. “Despite our varied backgrounds, we are united in our unwavering support for your administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, and other FCT officials.
