President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the Southern Parkway project in Abuja, a critical artery connecting major areas within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The project, which was awarded in 2010, was completed after the intervention of the President’s administration.

Speaking at the inauguration, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in enabling economic growth and prosperity. He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for his efforts in completing the project, which he described as a symbol of connectivity, ease of livelihood, accessibility, and progress.

The Southern Parkway is a 12-lane road with four interchanges, eight bridges, and associated underground engineering facilities. The project is expected to enhance traffic circulation, reduce travel time, and accelerate development in the Southern Axis of the city.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, praised President Tinubu’s support and laudable achievements, announcing that the FCT Administration has resolved to name the road “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way” in honor of the President.

The Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Ahmad, explained that the Parkway System is an integral part of the transportation masterplan of the Federal Capital City, designed to optimize vehicular movement between developed sectors and the Central Area.

This inauguration marks a significant milestone in the President’s first year in office, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable development and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
