President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State to unite and embrace consensus-building ahead of the party’s primary scheduled for December 13, 2025.
The President made the appeal during a meeting with the aspirants at the State House, Abuja, on Monday night. Those in attendance included former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Also present were APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma; and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Tinubu commended the aspirants for their contributions to the party and urged them to avoid internal divisions that cost the APC victory in the last Osun governorship election. He emphasized the importance of party supremacy and collective responsibility in selecting a flagbearer.
“You all have a duty to ensure the APC wins the next election in Osun State. Strengthen unity, uphold party supremacy, and work together,” the President said, expressing confidence in the aspirants’ ability to deliver victory.
At the end of the meeting, a joint statement signed by the aspirants and party leaders affirmed their commitment to supporting a consensus candidate.
In the communiqué, the aspirants pledged loyalty to the party, agreed to abide by the nomination process, and vowed not to undertake any action that could undermine party cohesion. They further committed to working collectively to secure victory for the APC and advance good governance in Osun State.
