President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination follows the election of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Dr Doro’s appointment reflects the President’s continued commitment to competence, experience, and national balance in his cabinet.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr Doro brings over 20 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice. A licensed Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Dr Doro has worked extensively with the National Health Service (NHS) in frontline roles across urgent care centres, general practices, and hospitals.
Beyond his medical career, Dr Doro has been actively involved in youth mentorship and social impact programmes, both within the Nigerian diaspora and in local communities.
With his nomination now before the Senate, Dr Doro is expected to undergo screening in the coming days.
