President Bola Tinubu has directed a reduction in the size of Nigeria’s official delegation to the upcoming 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The move aims to ensure prudent management of resources and reduce the cost of governance.

According to the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, only authorized officials with business at the UN General Assembly will be allowed to attend. Gbajabiamila emphasized that the President is committed to addressing the concerns of Nigerians and ensuring efficient service delivery in government operations.

The directive was announced during a one-day retreat organized by the State House management for heads of government agencies under its supervision. The retreat aimed to facilitate collaboration and coordination among government agencies to achieve the objectives of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

This move sees a shift from previous years, where Nigeria’s delegation to the UN General Assembly was often criticized for being overly large.
