President Bola Tinubu has paid a heartfelt tribute to his elder cousin, Dr. Naheemdeen Ade Ekemode, who passed away at the age of 80, Okay.ng reports.

In a message reflecting on their shared childhood and Ekemode’s illustrious career, President Tinubu honored his cousin’s contributions to the field of medicine, particularly in his five decades as a gynaecologist. Ekemode, who trained in Egypt, also served as the former chairman of the Lagos State Hospitals Management Board, where he was instrumental in advancing healthcare in the state.

“Your passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family,” President Tinubu said. “The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart.”

Tinubu described his cousin’s influence both personally and professionally, recalling Ekemode’s bright smile, infectious laughter, and kindness, which touched countless lives.

“As a physician, your compassion and care touched countless lives, and your legacy will endure through the people you healed, comforted, and uplifted,” Tinubu remarked.

The President also fondly remembered Ekemode’s sense of humour and caring nature, which brought joy to those around him. He reflected on the recent celebration of his cousin’s 80th birthday, noting that, despite the hope for more shared moments, he takes comfort knowing Ekemode is now at peace.

“Though we celebrated your 80th birthday earlier this year with hope for more shared moments, we take solace in the knowledge that you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering,” Tinubu added.

In his condolence message to the family, Tinubu extended his thoughts and prayers, expressing hope that cherished memories would provide strength during this difficult time.

“You may no longer be with us in body, but your spirit and the bonds we shared will live on in our hearts forever. May Allah grant you eternal rest, and His mercy and peace be with you always,” the President concluded.
