Abuja, NIGERIA –
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The brief ceremony was attended by the ministers’ spouses and senior government officials. Their appointments followed the resignations of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, who left office to pursue political ambitions. Both nominees were cleared by the Senate on May 6, 2026.
Okay News reports that Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience in economic reforms, fiscal policy and institutional development. A First Class Civil Engineering graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, he previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led several public sector reform initiatives. He has also worked with major organisations including the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Shell, MTN, Huawei and General Electric.
Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a native of Kogi State and First Class Political Science graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is a veteran diplomat with 35 years of service in Nigeria’s foreign service. He served in diplomatic missions across Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom and India, and retired as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017. Before his appointment, he was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
The Presidency said both ministers are expected to support the administration’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s power sector and advance the country’s foreign policy objectives.
