Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral talks with Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, as part of his upcoming state visit scheduled for March 17 to 19.
Okay News reports that the UK government has released the official programme for the visit, which will feature a series of ceremonial events, diplomatic meetings, and engagements with members of the Nigerian diaspora.
According to the itinerary, President Tinubu will formally arrive on March 18 and will be received by Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales. A ceremonial welcome will then take place on Datchet Road, followed by a carriage procession to Windsor Castle where the Nigerian leader will meet King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The programme includes a formal reception, a 21-gun salute, and a state luncheon at St George’s Hall, as well as bilateral discussions with UK officials focusing on trade, security cooperation, migration issues, and port development.
Tinubu is also scheduled to attend a cultural exchange event showcasing Nigerian artefacts before participating in a state banquet hosted at Windsor Castle.
On March 19, the president will hold a private breakfast with the British monarch and queen before travelling to London, where he will lay a wreath at The Cenotaph.
He will later meet Prime Minister Starmer at 10 Downing Street for bilateral talks and a working lunch, alongside other engagements including meetings with Nigerians in the diaspora and the signing of bilateral agreements at Buckingham Palace.
The visit will conclude with Tinubu’s departure from RAF Northolt back to Nigeria. Officials say the trip marks Nigeria’s first full state visit to the United Kingdom in 57 years.
