ABUJA, Nigeria – The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in the 2027 general elections and lead the ruling party to retain the presidency beyond 2031.
Speaking to party supporters at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, August 24, 2026, following his return from an overseas trip, the former Zamfara State governor stated that the administration’s reform achievements over the past three years would guarantee voter support at the polls.
“Today, we have seen him [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] as president today, and by God’s grace, he shall be the president come 2027,” Yari said. “I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep to our promises. Our party is synonymous with keeping to our words.”
Okay News reports that Yari’s remarks follow the formal unveiling of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, chaired by President Tinubu with Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serving as key principals.
The council’s composition has drawn scrutiny from civil society groups, opposition figures, and political commentators over the inclusion of serving public revenue officials—including Nigeria Revenue Service Executive Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji—as well as figures previously named in public financial investigations.
Dismissing the criticism, Yari emphasized that the ruling party remains united and dedicated to delivering tangible governance results under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We pray that Almighty Allah will give him [the President] the wisdom to lead this country. We assure Nigerians that we shall fulfill all our campaign promises,” Yari stated, adding: “We pray that our party will continue to be the party to lead the country after President Tinubu’s second term.”
The newly appointed campaign leadership is scheduled to inaugurate sub-committees and commence national political consultations across the six geopolitical zones in the coming weeks.
