Abuja, Nigeria – Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, has stepped down from his role as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling his intention to pursue elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His resignation follows a directive issued by President Tinubu mandating that all political appointees with ambitions to contest in the 2027 polls must vacate their positions on or before March 31, 2026. The directive applies across board, affecting ministers, advisers, and other key appointees within the current administration.
Okay News reports that in his resignation letter, Ja’oji expressed appreciation to the president for the opportunity to serve, noting that his appointment reflected a strong commitment to youth inclusion in governance. He emphasized that his selection into office was driven by confidence in the capacity of young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The former aide also reaffirmed his loyalty to the administration and pledged readiness to serve the country in any capacity if called upon in the future. He praised the government’s “Renewed Hope Initiative,” describing it as a key driver of policies aimed at national progress.
Although he did not officially disclose the exact office he intends to contest, political insiders indicate that Ja’oji is eyeing a seat in the House of Representatives, specifically the Tarauni Federal Constituency. His supporters have already welcomed the move, expressing optimism about his chances in the upcoming elections.
