On Sunday, Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan delivered a stunning performance at the Rabat Diamond League, clinching the women’s 100m hurdles title with a new meet record of 12.45 seconds.

This remarkable time surpassed the previous record of 12.51 seconds, set by American Brianna McNeal in 2018, underscoring Amusan’s dominance in the event.

The race, held just before the main broadcast of the meet, saw Amusan pull decisively ahead of her competitors, showcasing her speed and technical prowess. Her 12.45-second finish also marked her season’s best (SB), signaling her peak form as the 2022 World Champion and current world record holder in the event.

Trailing closely behind was Nadine Visser of the Netherlands, who clocked a season’s best of 12.67 seconds to secure second place. Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska completed the podium with a season’s best of 12.69 seconds.

Other notable performances included Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji (12.71s SB), Italy’s Giada Carmassi (12.81s personal best), Elena Carraro (12.89s), USA’s Destiny Huven (12.93s), France’s Sacha Alessandrini (12.96s SB), and Austria’s Karin Strametz (13.08s SB). The race was run under favorable conditions with a +1.2 m/s tailwind.

Amusan’s record-breaking run at Rabat further cements her status as one of the premier hurdlers on the global stage and sets an exciting tone for the remainder of the Diamond League season.
