An attack by bandits on Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo villages in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State has left 26 people dead, including four police officers and two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps. The hoodlums, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked the villages on Sunday, shooting and killing 20 people and injuring two others.

The police patrol team responding to the distress call was ambushed, resulting in the death of four police officers and two members of the community watch corps. The Katsina State Police Command has deployed additional operational assets to the area and is working with stakeholders to prevent further occurrences and apprehend the perpetrators.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Musa, has expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those affected by the incident. The attack on Gidan Boka village resulted in 15 deaths and two injuries, while the bandits also killed five persons in Dan Nakwabo village as they escaped. The investigation is ongoing.
