Tragedy Strikes: Two-Storey School Crumbles During Exams in Jos

Tragedy struck the Busa Buji community in Jos North LGA on Friday morning as a two-storey school building, Saint Academy, collapsed, trapping several students and teachers inside.

The incident occurred around Zara Road while classes were in session for the third-term examination. As the building crumbled, panic ensued, with parents rushing to the scene, crying and pleading for the rescue of their children.

First responders, including police officers and emergency personnel, quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.

Sunday Abdu, executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed that the agency had promptly mobilized its personnel and coordinated with relevant agencies to manage the situation. Personnel from the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) and other officials were also present to assist in the rescue efforts.

Eugene Nyelong, zonal coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), stated that the number of casualties is yet to be determined as rescue operations continue. The scene remains chaotic, with rescuers working tirelessly to save those still trapped under the debris.
