Transcorp Hotels Plc has appointed Dr Awele Elumelu as Chairperson of its board. The appointment takes effect on January 1, 2026.
Okay News reports that the hospitality subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc announced the change. It follows the retirement of current Chair Emmanuel Nnorom on the same date.
Elumelu holds leadership roles in healthcare and insurance sectors. She chairs Avon Healthcare Limited, a major health insurance provider, and Avon Medical Practice.
She also leads Heirs Insurance Brokers. Elumelu serves as a founding director of Heirs Holdings Limited.
A qualified medical doctor with an MBBS from the University of Benin, she gained clinical experience in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She completed executive programs at Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and the London School of Economics.
Elumelu co-founded and serves as trustee of the Tony Elumelu Foundation. The philanthropy supports young African entrepreneurs through funding, training, and mentorship.
