Transfer News: Néstor Araujo joins Celta Vigo from Santos Laguna

Celta Vigo have completed the signing of Mexican defender Néstor Araujo from Santos Laguna on a 5-year deal.

Araujo (Guadalajara, Mexico, August 29, 1991) is a solvent center, with great physical presence and excellent ball handling. He arrives at Celta backed by a long career full of successes, both in his league and with the national team. In 2016 he received in his country the Golden Ball for the Best Defense of the First Division of Mexico and in 2017 he was part of the ideal eleven of the highest category of Mexican football.

With the absolute selection of Mexico played a total of 25 games, which scored three goals and in recent years is a fixed in this national team. He participated in the classification of Mexico for the World Cup of Russia, but an injury prevented him at the last minute from attending this competition.

With Santos Laguna, he won two league titles, the last one a few weeks ago with Santos, a Mexican Cup and the Champions Cup. In addition, he was also the champion of the Mexican Cup with Cruz Azul.
