Troops of the Nigerian army killed two female suicide bombers on Wednesday night as they attempted to attack a military formation in Alikaramanti area in Maiduguri, Borno state.

The attackers were intercepted by the soldiers on duty in the area after Giwa Barracks before they hurriedly detonated the Improvised Explosive Device strapped to their bodies.

It was further gathered that no other person was killed in the foiled attack, however, no fewer than six persons were injured.

Spokesman for the police in the state Joseph Kwaji said operatives of the EOD team had rendered the area safe.
