The Nigerian Army has successfully dismantled a clandestine weapons depot used by a notorious criminal figure, John Gata, in Taraba State. This breakthrough occurred on Sunday after troops of Operation Whirl Stroke acted on precise intelligence to intercept Gata’s wife while she was traveling through the region.
Okay News reports that the suspect’s wife subsequently guided the soldiers to a hidden armoury located in Amadu village, Takum Local Government Area.
During the raid, security forces recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 38 magazines, 690 rounds of ammunition, and four hand grenades, all of which were being used to fuel violent activities in the area.
Following the recovery, military authorities immediately destroyed the storage site to ensure it could no longer be utilized by criminal networks.
Officials confirmed that the operation was carried out without casualties, and they have assured residents that security patrols will remain active to maintain order across the state.
