Trump Predicts Starmer’s Resignation as UK Prime Minister

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

LONDON, United Kingdom — United States President Donald Trump has predicted that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will resign from office, while sharply criticising his handling of immigration and energy policy.

Okay News reports that Trump made the remarks in a post published on his Truth Social platform on Sunday amid growing political speculation surrounding Starmer’s future as leader of the United Kingdom.

In the post, Trump claimed that Starmer had “failed badly” on what he described as two critical issues facing Britain — immigration and energy. He specifically criticised restrictions on North Sea oil development and suggested that the Labour leader’s position had become increasingly difficult to sustain.

“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects — Immigration and Energy (Open North Sea Oil!). I wish him well!” Trump wrote.

The comments come as British political circles continue to debate Starmer’s future following a series of electoral setbacks and declining approval ratings after Labour’s landslide victory in the 2024 general election. Reports in sections of the UK media have suggested that developments within the Labour Party could lead to significant political decisions in the coming days.

Starmer led Labour back to power after more than a decade of Conservative rule, but his government has since faced mounting pressure over economic challenges, migration concerns and energy policy debates. Recent election results have also fuelled questions about public confidence in the administration.

If Starmer were to leave office, he would become the latest in a succession of British prime ministers to serve relatively short terms, highlighting a period of political instability that has characterised UK politics over the past decade.

Neither Starmer nor Downing Street had publicly responded to Trump’s remarks at the time of reporting.
