Washington D.C., USA – US President Donald Trump has fired his Attorney General, Pam Bondi, replacing her with his former personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, who will now serve as the acting chief of the Justice Department.

Okay News reports that the dismissal reportedly stems from internal frustrations over Bondi’s handling of the recently released Jeffrey Epstein files, as well as her failure to successfully prosecute perceived political opponents, including former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Announcing the decision on Truth Social, Trump praised the outgoing official, stating: “Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown on crime across our country.” He further noted that she “will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector to be announced at a date in the near future.”

Democratic lawmakers openly welcomed the ouster. Senator Elizabeth Warren reacted sharply, saying, “Good riddance. Under Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Department of Justice became a cesspool of corruption. Bondi will be remembered for blocking the release of the Epstein files (and) weaponising the DOJ to go after Trump’s political opponents.” Senator Mark Warner added that her “botched handling of the Epstein files” had “denied victims transparency and further undermined trust in our justice system.”

In a related high-profile exit, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has directed the Army’s Chief of Staff, Gen. Randy George, to step down and retire immediately. Confirming the development, Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell stated, “The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation. We wish him well in his retirement.”

This move marks the latest in a series of sweeping changes by Hegseth, who has fired over a dozen senior military officers—including the Air Force Vice Chief of Staff and the Chief of Naval Operations—since taking the helm at the Pentagon.
