Washington D.C., USA – US President Donald Trump has said Iran’s next supreme leader will not remain in power for long without the approval of the United States.

Speaking in an interview shared with Okay News on Sunday, Trump stated that Washington intends to influence who eventually emerges as the country’s new leader as the conflict between the two nations continues.

“He’s going to have to get approval from us. If he doesn’t get approval from us he’s not going to last long,” the president said.

Trump also said he would be willing to support a candidate with ties to Iran’s previous leadership if that person could be considered a “good leader.”

According to the president, the US military campaign against Iran was necessary to prevent Tehran from expanding its influence across the Middle East and potentially acquiring nuclear weapons.

He added that the US has already destroyed significant parts of Iran’s military infrastructure, including its navy, air force, and communications systems.

While Trump previously suggested the war could last four to five weeks, he declined to provide a clear timeline during the interview, saying the United States was currently “ahead of schedule” in terms of military progress.

The president also downplayed concerns about rising fuel prices linked to the conflict, describing the spike as a “little glitch” that resulted from what he called a necessary detour.
