The police say the two Chinese kidnapped by gunmen at Ajage Village in Nasarawa Local Government on Aug. 5 have regained freedom.

The spokesman for the police in Nasarawa State, Ismaila Numan, made this known to journalists in Lafia on Tuesday.

Mr. Numan added that the victims were released by their abductors following sustained pressure from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Police Mobile Force.

Mr. Numan named the freed men as Jien Yung and Wen So Ping attached to West African Polaris Investment.

He said the command adopted aggressive intelligence-led policing by deploying conventional police, PMF personal, SARS and local vigilante to comb the suspected hideout of the kidnappers.

“As a result of the extensive and sustained pressure from the search party, the victims were released by their kidnappers at about 6.30 p.m. on Aug. 6,” he said.

Mr. Numan said the victims were taken to hospital for medical checkup.

He said investigation was still on to arrest the kidnappers, adding that the command would continue to strategise on its crime prevention and control methods.

Mr. Numan said that the command would strive to reduce crime rate in the state to the barest minimum.

“The command will continue to look forward to the support of members of the public in the onerous task as security is everybody’s business,” he said. (NAN)
