A fatal collision between a commercial truck and a private motorcycle claimed two lives and left one person seriously injured on Wednesday morning along the busy Airport Road in Kano. The accident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. near Eldorado Cina Junction, according to officials from the Kano Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Preliminary investigations indicate that reckless driving caused the crash involving a DAF truck and a Jincheng motorcycle. FRSC Public Education Officer Abdullahi Labaran confirmed that six male occupants were involved in the incident, with two pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders arrived within three minutes of receiving the alert and transported the injured victim to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital’s mortuary, while authorities took custody of the vehicles and other recovered items at the Gwagwarwa Police Division for further investigation. The FRSC has reiterated its appeal to motorists to obey traffic rules and exercise caution on the roads to prevent avoidable accidents.

In an official statement, the Corps expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured victim a full recovery. This tragic incident highlights ongoing road safety concerns in the area, coming just weeks after similar fatal crashes were recorded along the same corridor. Transportation safety advocates are calling for improved enforcement of speed limits and stricter penalties for traffic violations along major Kano routes.
