Two rockets have landed inside the heavily fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, home of the US and Australian embassies in Iraq.

The Iraqi joint military command told CNN in Baghdad that “two Katyusha rockets landed inside the Green Zone in Baghdad. No reports of casualties.”

The incident took place just after midnight local time.

According to CNN, sirens were heard from inside the Green Zone and two explosions. It was not immediately clear who had fired the rockets or where they were fired from.

It can be recalled that Iran had claimed a ‘ballistic missiles’ on US military bases in Iraq.

Iran had vowed to revenge the killing of leader of the Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, after being killed by the United States in a drone strike.
