ZARIA, Nigeria – Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has flagged off the construction of 11 township roads across Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas under the second phase of the state’s township roads programme.
Okay News reports that the governor was received by a large crowd in Zaria ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, Emir of Zazzau Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli and former Kaduna Governor Ramalan Yero.
The projects cover roads in communities including Tudun Wada, Sabon Gari and Zaria. They include Babban Dodo–Durumi–Kofan Kuyanbana, Rimin Tsiwa–Kofan Gayan, Maje Road, Turunku Road, Waff Road, Layin Radio Road, Aba Road and Idris Majeh Street.
Other roads listed for construction are Dadda’u Road, Sheikh Umar Muazu Street and Turunku Road in Sabon Layi, Tudun Wada.
The state government said the projects build on the administration’s Phase I road interventions, which included the completed Magajiya–Albarkawa and Audi–Kako roads in Zaria.
The Dogon Bauchi–Kakeyi road linking Sabon Gari and Zaria, which was inherited at 40 per cent completion, has also been delivered. The ‘Yan Goro Road in Sabon Gari has been completed, while work continues on roads around Sabon Gari Market.
Since Governor Sani assumed office, the administration has flagged off the construction of 150 roads covering 1,345 kilometres across Kaduna State. The government said several of the projects have been completed, while others are at various stages of execution.
