Kaduna, Nigeria – Governor Uba Sani has launched Phase One of the distribution of 600 electricity transformers and 10,000 solar-powered street lights across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
Okay News reports that the governor described the initiative as a major step in the state’s broader energy reform programme, noting that the intervention goes beyond the mere installation of equipment.
He said the rollout forms part of a structured, statewide strategy aimed at rehabilitating weak power distribution networks, replacing vandalised infrastructure, and restoring stable electricity supply to communities that have faced years of inadequate service.
According to Sani, improved energy access will boost security, stimulate economic activities and enhance social life across the state. He added that illuminated streets help reduce crime, enable traders to operate longer hours, and allow residents to move freely at night.
The governor also commended stakeholders and development partners for supporting efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable energy future for Kaduna State.
