Abia State governorship aspirant Uchechukwu Ogah has accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court withholding the election of the state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Ogah dragged governor Ikpeazu to the Supreme Court to challenge his emergence as the party’s candidate after losing out on the ruling of the Federal High court and the Appeal court on the same suit.

He accused the governor of falsifying his tax information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), an accusation a five-man bench of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, dismissed on Friday.

However, Ogah congratulated the governor for his victory at the court in a statement issued by his aides on Saturday.

”Even though a painful verdict, as someone who believes in the rule of law and the judiciary, I have accepted the decision of the apex court in good faith,” he said in the statement.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) man urged the people of the state to support Ikpeazu-led government and the party which they both remained a major stakeholders.

”As the legal battle comes to an end with the Supreme Court’s declaration…, I urge all Abia indigenes to join hands in supporting the governor in order to move our dear state forward,” he added in the statement.
