JOS, PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA – The University of Jos has postponed its examinations scheduled for March 30 and 31, 2026, following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba and the subsequent imposition of a curfew by the Plateau State Government.
Okay News reports that the development follows a government directive imposing a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area after the incident left several residents dead and others injured. Authorities described the attack as unprovoked and have launched efforts to track down those responsible.
In an official statement, the university management said the decision was prompted by late-night attacks by unknown gunmen in the area, which is home to many students and staff. The institution noted that the resulting tension and security concerns made it necessary to suspend the exams, assuring that new dates would be announced once the situation stabilises.
The university added that it is working closely with security agencies to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of its community, while residents have been urged to remain indoors and comply fully with the curfew measures.
