USA Wins Women’s 4x100m Relay Gold

By Farouk Mohammed

The United State of America on Saturday claimed gold in the women’s 4x100m relay ahead of Great Britain in a time of 41.82 seconds.

Great Britain took silver in 42.12 seconds with Jamaica third in 42.19 seconds.

With the win, Allyson Felix won her 15th world championship career medal.

Felix’s gold makes her to the all-time leader in terms of world medals – one ahead of Jamaican duo Merlene Ottey and Usain Bolt.

As the runners came off the final bend it was still a close race between USA, Britain, Germany and Jamaica but Torie Bowie pulled away, showing the pace which won her the 100m world title.

The British quartet enjoyed the home support as they were roared home by a packed London Stadium crowd. This probably helped Neita, on the anchor leg, hold off Jamaica by 0.07 seconds to secure second place.
