Despite having to endure limited playing time due to injuries at the Stadium of Light, the Nigeria international thanked fans for all their support

Victor Anichebe has thanked Sunderland coaches, players and fans for their support during his short spell at the club.

The former Everton forward departed the Stadium of Light after enduring a turbulent season to team up with Chinese second-tier club, Beijing Enterprises.

Anichebe who managed three goals in 18 league appearances for the Black Cats, appreciated the club’s fans for their support despite a run of poor games in the English Premier League that condemned them to relegation.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone Sunderlandafcofficial for the kindness I was shown throughout my stay,” Anichebe wrote on Instagram,

“The season wasn’t what we all wanted and I’m sorry for that but I just wanted to say a big thank you for the support you guys continued to show me throughout my time there, during both the ups and the downs.

“The support and messages I got here and at the stadiums was amazing and I’m truly grateful. I really do wish you guys the best of luck for the upcoming season it’s going to be a tough one but I pray that the season is a success and you hopefully get back to where Sunderland belong! Thank you so much again…God bless.”
