Victor Osimhen Surpasses Odegbami to Become Nigeria’s Second Highest Goal Scorer

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward, has overtaken Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami on the nation’s all-time top scorers list.

The milestone was achieved during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda held in Kigali, where Osimhen found the net in the 11th minute.

Heading into the match, both Osimhen and Odegbami were tied at 23 goals. However, the Napoli loanee broke the deadlock by converting a free-kick cross delivered by Ademola Lookman early in the game.

With this strike, Osimhen now holds 24 international goals, surpassing Odegbami’s record and cementing his place in Nigerian football history.

At 26 years old, Victor Osimhen now sits second on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list, trailing only the legendary Rashidi Yekini, who boasts 37 goals for the Super Eagles.

The updated list of Nigeria’s highest goal scorers is as follows:

Rashidi Yekini – 37 Goals

Victor Osimhen – 25 Goals

Segun Odegbami – 23 Goals

Yakubu Aiyegbeni – 21 Goals

Ikechukwu Uche – 19 Goals

Obafemi Martins – 18 Goals

Sunday Oyarekhu – 17 Goals

Samson Siasia – 16 Goals

Odion Jude Ighalo – 16 Goals
