Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy created history at the 66th Grammy Awards with his electrifying performance, becoming the first African artist to grace the Grammys’ main stage.
The Grammy-winning artist delivered a memorable performance, showcasing a medley of his chart-topping hits, including ‘On Form’ and ‘City Boy’.
Burna Boy’s performance reached its crescendo when he was joined on stage by acclaimed artist Brandy and rapper 21 Savage for a stirring rendition of his nominated single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’.
The audience erupted in applause as Burna Boy captivated the stage for a captivating three-minute performance that showcased his unparalleled talent and stage presence.
Although Burna Boy’s performance garnered widespread acclaim, he was unable to add to his previous Grammy win as he lost out in all four categories he was nominated for at the 66th Grammys.
Burna Boy’s loss in the Global Album category saw Shakti’s ‘This Moment’ take home the award, while his single ‘Alone’ was edged out by ‘Pashto’ in the Global Music Performance category.
Additionally, the Best African Music Performance award was clinched by South African sensation Tyla, and Burna Boy missed out on the Best Melodic Rap Performance category, which was won by Lil Durk’s ‘All My Life’ featuring J Cole.
