Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr was named the Men’s Player of the Year at the FIFA Best Awards on Tuesday, following an outstanding season with the Spanish giants.

The 24-year-old Brazilian star was present in Doha, Qatar, to receive the prestigious award during the ceremony, which recognizes top-performing players globally.

Vinicius Jr played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s successful 2023-24 campaign, helping the club secure both the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga titles. He contributed an impressive 24 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, solidifying his status as one of football’s elite talents.

His win comes after he and his Real Madrid teammates notably boycotted this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, where Manchester City midfielder Rodri took home the award.

In the women’s category, Aitana Bonmati of Barcelona claimed the Women’s Player of the Year title for the second consecutive year, capping off an evening of celebration for football’s brightest stars.
