Onicha-Olona, Delta State, NIGERIA — Vice President Kashim Shettima led a federal government delegation to Delta State on Saturday, April 18, 2026, for the funeral of Sir Israel Chinwuba Ogbue, the father-in-law of Heirs Holdings and UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu.
Conveying condolences from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President described the late Pa Ogbue, who passed away on February 18, 2026, as a man of depth and strength who lived with gratitude and grace.
Okay News reports that Shettima characterized the ceremony in the Onicha-Olona community as a celebration of a long life well lived, noting that Ogbue’s wisdom provided stability and moral guidance to United Bank for Africa (UBA) during critical moments.
During the visit to the Aniocha North Local Government Area, Vice President Shettima was conferred with the traditional title of Odoziani 1 of Aniocha, a title signifying “the one who restores the glory of the land”. The honor was bestowed in recognition of his leadership and support for the development of the Aniocha community.
The Vice President was accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, and the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu. Other dignitaries in attendance included Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The State House confirmed that Shettima emphasized Pa Ogbue’s values of moderation and contentment as an example for future generations before concluding the visit on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
