Lagos, Nigeria — The West African Examinations Council, a regional examination body responsible for conducting standardized secondary school assessments across several West African countries, has released the results of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2026 First Series.
The announcement was made on Friday through the council’s official communication channels, confirming that candidates who participated in the examination will be able to check their performance within 12 hours of the release. The Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination, commonly known as CB-WASSCE, is conducted for private candidates who are not enrolled in regular secondary school programmes.
The examination body explained that the prompt release reflects its continued efforts to modernize assessment systems through technology. Okay News reports that the adoption of computer-based testing is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving efficiency, reducing processing time, and enhancing the overall experience for candidates.
In its statement, the council said, “The result of CB-WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2026–First Series has been released. Candidates can access their results within the next 12 hours.
“Our thanks to all stakeholders for cooperating with us to achieve this feat.”
The West African Examinations Council also expressed appreciation to education stakeholders, including supervisors, technical personnel, and participating candidates, for their cooperation during the conduct of the examination.
The CB-WASSCE is designed to provide flexible opportunities for individuals seeking secondary school certification outside the traditional academic calendar. With the transition to computer-based delivery, the council aims to shorten result processing timelines and strengthen transparency in examination administration.
Candidates who took part in the assessment have been advised to check their results through the official platforms provided by the West African Examinations Council once access becomes available.
