Abuja, NIGERIA – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially debunked viral reports claiming that popular Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus, has been declared wanted by the agency.
Okay News gathered that the anti-graft commission issued a “fake news” alert on Thursday, April 9, 2026, after a doctored “wanted” poster featuring the comedian began circulating on social media. The fraudulent poster, which carried the EFCC logo and a fictitious address in Victoria Island, Lagos, falsely alleged that Sabinus was wanted for obtaining money under false pretenses.
“Clout chaser, stop this now!” the commission stated in a post on its official social media handles, emphasizing that it has not issued any warrant against the entertainer. The EFCC urged the public to disregard the misleading content and rely solely on verified information from its official communication channels.
While the comedian has not made a formal statement regarding the hoax, the commission used the opportunity to warn against the dangers of spreading fake news, noting that such misinformation is designed to mislead the public and unfairly damage reputations.
