Exam Candidates

Some BECE candidates in the Western Region have said that despite the short time they have to rewrite the papers that were cancelled by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC)

They are prepared to take the mantle against all odds. They say “these subjects determine who we become in future and so we will not take anything to chance.” Speaking to Citi News, some of the candidates at the Badu Addo Methodist JHS in Takoradi described the cancellation of the papers by WAEC as “shocking, when we knew we were soon to relieve ourselves from the BECE associated stress.” They said “though the duration given is short, but that is what WAEC has said, we cannot change it and so we are preparing seriously for the five papers.”Meanwhile the head teacher of the school Richard Anthony Cudjoe said: “We have not had any official communication from the Sekondi Takoradi education directorate of the resit date,” they have prepared their candidates again, “psyching them mentally and giving them the comfort and training they need for the papers.” He was however quick to add that “WAEC will do us greater damage if it fails to protect the second papers this time around because all our work will be in vain if that happens”.
