There was a time Banky W, Wizkid and Skales used to be great buddies, when E.M.E was indivisible; that was the time the latter were under Banky W’s EME label.

But that relationship has become a thing of the past. Of course, the twitter war between Wizkid and Skales made headlines few months ago.(click here if you missed)

Now, Skales has released the tracklisting for his 22-track album, Man of the Year. It didn’t come as a surprise to many that none of his former label mates featured in any of the tracks in the album.

While trying to explain this development, Skales’ management team told Punch’ Saturday Beats in a telephone conversation that the main reason Wizkid and Banky W were not on the album was because they had difficulties in choosing tracks to be included in the album.

“He had over hundred songs and it was quite difficult for his management to pick which should go in his album,” his management team said.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Skales strives to maintain a cordial relationship with both parties.

The source said, “There are 22 tracks on the album. Skales really wanted Banky W to be on the album but I don’t think Banky W recorded his part of the song to feature in the album. Skales sent Banky W the song he wanted him to feature in but there was no response from Banky W’s camp till date. As for Wizkid, not being on the album was the genesis of the fight they had on twitter. It was learnt that Skales became frustrated and snapped when Wizkid kept postponing recording his part of the song. To be honest, the two are acting as if they do not have time for Skales but they have forgotten the story of the stone that was rejected and later became the cornerstone. Without them on his album, there are still a lot of hit songs on it. He featured some of Africa’s best on the album and I am sure it would be a success.”
