Oshogbo, Osun State, Nigeria – The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has outlined the achievements of his administration as he formally begins his campaign for re-election ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
In a statement on Wednesday made available to Okay News, the governor said his government has spent the past four years implementing people-focused policies across sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, health, education and workers’ welfare. He said the administration’s goal from the start was to deliver development that directly improves the lives of residents while laying a foundation for sustainable economic growth.
According to Adeleke, the state has recorded major infrastructure progress, including the construction of more than 350 kilometres of roads, three major flyover bridges and the reconstruction of several damaged bridges linking key communities. The government also rehabilitated six waterworks, developed the Ora Water Dam and installed boreholes in all 332 wards across the state to improve access to water.
The governor also highlighted achievements in social services, stating that nearly 80,000 residents have benefited from the Imole Medical Outreach programme while more than 200 health centres have been rebuilt and equipped. In education, he said about 150 schools have been rehabilitated, Osun’s national examination ranking improved from 33rd to 7th position, Osun State University secured full medical accreditation and the University of Ilesa was established.
On agriculture and economic development, Adeleke said his administration revived the state’s cocoa production initiative through the distribution of improved seedlings, the deployment of tractors for farmers and the empowerment of cooperative societies with nearly ₦4 billion.
Looking ahead, the governor said his re-election campaign will focus on an upgraded five-point agenda aimed at expanding opportunities in youth and women empowerment, infrastructure development, agro-industrial growth, improved access to healthcare and education, and a more secure business environment to boost job creation.
