Musician and social activist Charly Boy has hinted that Tuesday’s attack on the Concerned Citizens of Nigeria group by some ”traders” in Abuja may have prompted the group’s decision to suspend its protest.

The group, led by the veteran singer, had last week begun a protest at the Fountain Park, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been on medical vacation in London for 100 days, to resume or resign.

The group was attacked when it took its protest to Wuse market in the nation’s capital.

Speaking to newsmen, Charly Boy said the attack remained a shock to him as that was not the first time he was there for an advocacy work.

“But what happened yesterday showed the ugliness of our country, which is a shame.

“I urge everybody to remain peaceful and calm. We are not violent people. We are to say that the Nigeria of our dream is not what we are seeing and we deserve a better country. If not for us, but for our children.
