A 20-year-old woman has been taken into custody by Jigawa State Police following a deadly domestic dispute. Authorities report that Rukayyah Amadu allegedly poured boiling water on her 30-year-old co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, during a confrontation at their home.

The incident occurred on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area, according to police spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam. Following the attack, Asiyah suffered extensive burns and was immediately transported to Dutse General Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025, at approximately 9:00 am.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that Rukayyah has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for comprehensive questioning. During preliminary interviews, the suspect reportedly admitted to committing the act.

“Investigators are currently working to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragedy,” a police representative stated.
