Management of Yabatech College of Technology has officially come out with an explanatory statement on the unfortunate demise of a final year student of the college, Comfort Dazan of the Office Technology Management Department was a victim of Sickle Cell Anaemia.

According to a release by the Director of Public Relations of the College, Mr. Charles Oni, Dazan had developed a crisis in the afternoon of Tuesday, February 9, 2016 and was on temporary admission at the College Medical Centre under close watch of the Centre’s Management.

She was however, discharged when her condition became stable so that she could get prepared for her examination scheduled for Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

The release disclosed that practical examinations had begun round the College last Monday as a precursor to the main general examination which was to start for Monday, February 15.

The late Dazan’s crisis was said to have relapsed around midnight which forced her room mates to rush her back to the college medical centre where precautionary medical attention was given to her, with a promise to refer her to Federal Medical Centre at Ebute Metta at day break.

She was being conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre early that morning when she gave up the ghost.

The release said that students immediately cashed in on the death of the late Dazan to engage in opportunistic clamour for the extension of the semester.

“They demanded for the extension of the semester for two weeks contrary to the College calendar.

“Unfortunately, many students do not prepare for examination until such examinations are a week or three days away, and customarily, they always plead for extension until the Management put a stop to such opportunism about two years ago.

“The hydra-headed clamour sprang up again Wednesday because of the death of Miss Dazan.

Management expresses deep sense of loss over the death of the promising student, praying God to grant her parents the fortitude to bear the irreparable.

Meanwhile, the late Dazan’s remains were interned at the Atan Cemetry Wednesday with family members, College Management and students in attendance.
