The punch line rap music is something forgotten already in the Nigeria music line.

Every upcoming acts out there are now inspired to do the normal singing or the indigenous rap music, which have seen acts like the late Da’Grin, Olamide, Phyno and Reminisce etc make income from.

The punch line music was the main trend in the Nigerian music line in the late 90’s and early 20’s but starting from the 2008/2009 year the system changed! Then we no longer hear the punch lines sounds any longer then we heard of Da’Grin !

Da’Grin came up and we heard the ‘Pon Pon Pon’ the streets was on a high level, everybody loved the new sound, so soon we lost the indigenous rap creator.

Then we heard the ‘Eni Duro’ single from Olamide, now he is the new big thing, fast forward we heard ‘Kako Bi Chicken’ from Reminisce, then more sounds started coming in from the new acts already created for success, now we no longer heard of punch line sounds, only Vector can still be recognised, even those trying to do punch lines no one wants to listen to them.

Fast forward to 2015. Now we heard Ycee and Dremo. Two young guys for the punch line sounds, but the duo actually do a little indigenous stuff to make everything blend.

• Ycee

Then you can’t doubt brother/sister reading this, when we talk about raps I mean punch lines then Ycee is hot!

YBNL boss Olamide who is an indigenous rapper says there is something special about Ycee then you can’t say baldadash.

Ycee brought up the ‘Condo’ single featuring Patoranking which made waves on radio stations especially, finally we listened to ‘Jagaban’ a punch line/ indigenous single which was trending every where, suddenly we were hit with the remix featuring Olamide, after this we have listened to series of songs, freestyles and cover from the young man.

Then he is bringing back the punch line sound back.

• Dremo

Nothing much, we know the name Dremo already even before he got signed to Davido ‘DMW’ an acronym for ‘Davido Music Worldwide’ alongside singing sensation Mayorkun.

Dremo already was already getting his name as a household name in the industry, he worked with series of top rated producers including the famous ‘Ojuelegba’ beat maker Legendury Beatz. Dremo alongside Ycee is nevertheless the duo bringing back the punch line hopes. Well done guys and keep improving.
